To kick off the new year, we will be discussing in response to a documentary about how culture and art are (or aren't) present in daily contemporary life.
When the Moment Sings - Youtube
November 11th: MEMORIES: Facts or Fiction?
This weeks topic was inspired by one of Jacobs submissions about memory.
Some starting points for contemplation while you listen to this TED Radio segment:
What is a memory?
Are there true/ false memories?
What do our memories say about our identities?
You are welcome to listen to listen to the full length podcast, however it is only necessary for you to listen to the segment titled "Can Eyewitnesses Create Memories?".
October 28th: SCIENCE AND SOUL
October 14th: FOOD: Facts, Feasts, and the Industry that Fuels Them
Our originally scheduled meeting falls on October 14th, which is also Canadian Thanksgiving. Since the University is closed, we will be hosting an informal dinner event at 7:30pm. This event does not count as a member responsibility, although we do have some juicy conversation to divulge into over a tasty dinner!
September 30th: BODY MODIFICATION: 'Otherkin' Subculture and Plastic surgery
Next weeks meeting is going to be about Body Modification in regards to 'Otherkin' Subculture and Plastic Surgery. We are super excited to introduce this subject, and have selected an excerpt from a documentary, and a website for you to browse though on the topic.
